Jean Yip Salon is a household name and the market leader in the beauty and hair-care industry in Singapore. The company has nearly 50 hair and beauty retail outlets operating in Singapore and Malaysia and employs more than 400 employees. Despite having a strong management team and still experiencing rapid growth, Jean Yip Salon realised that a manual system was simply insufficient to accommodate this fast-paced growth globally.
As the number of outlets and sales revenue continued to grow rapidly each year, Jean Yip Salon had to employ stricter measures and procedures to tighten up control of their operations and improve on cost-cutting measures even further. The management knew that the key was through the clever usage of technology. As Jean Yip Salon's business and operational processes were reflective of their rapid growth, they required a carefully designed system, adequately modeled after their own industry best practices and yet was highly scalable to adapt for future growth. Having already experienced one failed implementation, time was crucial and the mission, vastly critical.
How Beautec Management System helped
Beautec™, was selected as a starting point in the development. Jean Yip Salon management joint forces and worked closely with experts from Technolabs in an initiative to develop a highly customised solution build after its core competencies and best practices, to set it apart from and above its competitors. Most of Jean Yip Salon's system was replaced with the new version of Technolabs' Beautec™ application. The challenge was to deploy a single, HQ-synchronised database system for both its hair and beauty operations and provide consolidated backend reporting of all branches.
As Beautec™ was a framework and component-based application, it allowed for rapid customisation. This, coupled with a wealth of experience amassed with developing for several clients in the industry, the Technolabs' experts were able to roll-out the software on time and within budget. Most importantly, the finished product was highly scalable, procedurally correct and 100% bug-free.
